While adequate interior and parking space is a given in any good location, they’re far from the only things to consider. With that in mind, here are five tips for finding the best location for your medical office space.
Consider Your Demographics
It pays to know who will likely make up the bulk or your practice. For example, if you’re specializing in cosmetic or other elective procedures, then it would probably make to most sense to set up your office in a white-collar neighborhood. Of course, this is by no means a fail-proof way of choosing a location, and careful research into any community you’re considering is always advised.
Focus on Curb Appeal
First impressions are always important, and this is especially true when it comes to businesses. Patients are more likely to feel comfortable entering a building that they can see is well-lit and well-maintained. Making sure your location stands out from the buildings around it with clear signs can also give you a boost when it comes to patient confidence.
Mind the Traffic
This is an often-overlooked element when it comes to choosing a location, but the more traffic going past your office on a daily basis, the better. Choosing an area near large traffic centers, grocery stores, banks, and other businesses is also a good idea and setting up your office within a five-mile radius of these places is ideal for traffic flow.
Partners in Business
If at all possible, set up your office near other medical professionals such as hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies. This will make it easier to partner with others in your line of work and further benefit your patients. Other businesses and medical specialists can be some of your best allies so it pays to be close to them.
Watch the Competition
While being so close to other medical professionals will make it easy for you to partner up with them, moving into an area which already has practices in the same field as yours is not the best idea. Be careful to research the demographics of the area before you make your decision, not just concerning your client base, but concerning other medical business as well. Setting up your office too close to competitors can lead to confusion such as your patients walking into the offices of other practitioners by accident.
