A huge thanks to one of our tBLers who is just super active on Twitter, Allen C. Buchanan aka @allencbuchanan for bringing us news of Postlets (Zillow) changing its business plan. Postlets, a favorite tool for many folks in commercial real estate, although a residential focused product, is no longer supporting or offering its services to those of us in commercial real estate.
As a result Allen was so kind to point out a feature in Postlets, the only feature, we did not have similar to this awesome product, which was the “Embed Code” feature. Now what is the “Embed Code” feature you ask? Well when marketing on the internet, everything we do is based on html code. What you see inside the browser is html.
HTML (see Learn HTML for CRE) can look like a bunch of messed up text, but in reality it is quite powerful. In the case of using HTML with tBL, there is so much you can already do, but until now, it was not portable and now it is.
What that means is you can click a box of HTML that is now available to you on each HAVE post and copy and paste that code into other pages or sites online. So if you have a website or other location where you can place HTML code, you can grab that code and literally have a beautiful online view of your HAVE post. So for SEO, create a page for each listing you have, for example. Title the page the address and help bring your site more traffic!
One of the more popular places where HTML can be used is when posting to CraigsList! Yes, now you can add a HAVE here and simply grab the “Embed Code” and copy and paste it to the Description box on Craiglist. It saves time and as Kristian Lee put it, “I love new ways to market my cre listings!”:

For those of you who are well versed in HTML, you may edit the code for a multitude of uses. The sky is the limit!
