Social Media for Commercial Real EstateHey I was walking or driving past your property and saw a sign. When I returned to my desk, I went to Twitter to look you up. I could not find you.

I searched Facebook and there was no Facebook page.

I then went to Google and searched for your company name and found you! I figured that maybe your name was the problem so I proceeded to your website assuming, once there, I would see your social media icons. Social media for commercial real estate is not a new thing. Did you not get the memo?

What struck me was that once I got to your website there was no evidence of any social media. No way for me to share your pages. No way for me to relay my message to you, as a brand, about what I wanted or saw while driving past your property. No way for me to take a picture of your property and share it to you via Twitter and a myriad of other things we do today with our smart phones and devices. Since I noticed you were not using social media, I thought I should bring this to your attention. You know, make sure you got the memo!

Then I starting thinking about the volume of traffic and lost exposure your brand was experiencing. I was really shocked that nobody in your entire organization, including your marketing team has jumped up and down enough to convince you that you are missing many opportunities to expose your brand, your people and your properties.

This is not about a fad or a waste of time. This is about true outreach and exposure that you are missing. Plus the fact that you really look behind the times and almost obsolete by not participating. The inclusion is no longer optional, but it is truly necessary. When people search or want to Tweet or share or Like, they look for you. When they look for you and do not find you, they feel lost and frustrated. You are no longer user-friendly to them. You are an odd-man out so to speak. You are painful and rigid. You are hard to reach or hard to reach out to.
