How To Reach A Wider Network and Win More Clients
In commercial real estate, building strong business relationships is an essential part of your business. Keeping your lead pipeline full and plenty of deals on your plate is the goal of every broker; so how exactly can you do this? Let’s talk about a few ways that you can expand your client network and win more deals – and how our commercial real estate software can help.
With so many commercial real estate agents to choose from, why would a potential client choose to work with you? It’s important to differentiate yourself and showcase your unique skills, expertise, and value. Think of yourself as a “brand”; you want to be consistent with the message you send to current and potential clients, and your brand must come across as genuine and trustworthy. Don’t be afraid to stand out! In this industry you need to be memorable and known as an expert in your market. (Related post: “Stand Out From The Crowd: How To Differentiate Yourself”)
Use Social Media
If you’re not using social media to boost your commercial real estate business and reach a wider audience, you’re missing out on tons of potential clients. LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook are the three main sites used in the CRE industry and each site has the potential to reach a different audience. Whether you start with one social media platform, or you jump into all three, it’s important to post consistently, share content that your audience would be interested in, and be social. Social media is an excellent platform for potential clients to get to know you, for you to feature recently closed transactions, to post about available listings, or to simply share local market news. Start A Blog
Having your own commercial real estate blog is a great way for potential clients to find you online. A blog is great for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes, bringing new clients directly to your site. While a website is typically static and doesn’t get updated very often, a blog is updated on a regular basis. Some bloggers post everyday, while others post once per week. Just pick a schedule that you can commit to and stick to it so your readers know when new content will be available. Having your own blog will provide you with valuable content to share on your social media pages and in your email newsletters as well. You are in control of the content, and a blog provides a great place for clients to get to know more about you and how you can bring value to their deal. No one can deny the power of speaking with someone face to face. Traditional networking events and local events in your area are still an essential way to make a great first impression and meet a lot of people during a short period of time. While it may be a bit out of your comfort zone, be sure to talk to people you don’t know or ask someone to introduce you. The goal of networking is to expand your existing network so try not to get too comfortable spending your time with people you already know. Remember, the next person you meet may be your next client.
Send Email Newsletters
Stay in contact and follow up with your entire database on a consistent basis so your name stays at the top of their mind. While it’s always nice to send individual emails to each contact, you should also get in the habit of sending out email newsletters on a regular basis. To make your newsletters more effective, create separate email groups for contacts who are interested in different property types. For example, you may have an email list specifically for “industrial contacts” and another list specifically for “retail contacts”, or even “landlord contacts” and “tenant contacts” lists. However you decide to divide up your email lists, just make sure you are sending emails to contacts that will be interested in the content so they don’t unsubscribe.
