Besides all of the HR stuff, when a commercial real estate office makes a new hire that is a big deal. Not only do you spend many man hours, days, months and years searching for the right candidate, but your new hire is your product and you need to share the news with the world!
Today there is a stream of content that travels through our small tight-knit community called commercial real estate. It is really small so it does not take too much to get the word out using online tools and social media.
We notice so many firms and/or employees themselves, do not go the extra mile to make sure the world knows they are with a new company! For that reason, we put together a checklist that might prove helpful each time you hire new team member or when you start a new job! Remember, if your company does not have the manpower to do this for you, no sweat, this checklist is an easy way to walk you through what you should do for yourself too. If you need help, just call, email or tweet and we can walk you through how to do this using theBrokerList tools!
Here is our super easy checklist of everything you need to have ready and do, to make that process go smoothly, and with the least amount of effort, but with the biggest bang for the buck.
b. Mini-pitch (less than 160 character description of who you are, down and dirty focus, geography, expertise)
c. Pitch (In depth pitch or bio that compels someone to hire you)
d. Organization/Designation/Affiliations (CCIM, SIOR, CPM, etc.)
e. Concentration Area / Property Type (Brokerage, Management, etc. / Retail, Office, Industrial, etc.)

g. Testimonials or letters of recommendation scanned for digital use
h. Up to date Linkedin Profile
i. Up to date theBrokerList Profile (connect all APIs to partner sites so listings flow in)
j. Press release
k. Announcement with new business card enclosed
l. Business card MUST include all NEW online links, email, website, cell phone, etc.
m. Create a blog post on your website that contains the Press Release as a pdf attachment
n. Provide a blog post press release to theBrokerList
o. Tweet the blog from all sites your press release appears
p. Comment and encourage team members to comment on blog posts that appear on other sites and in the other media outlets welcoming that new team member.
q. Post the news on your Facebook page.
r. Like the press release (Facebook) on all media outlets and blogs.
s. Circle or Google+ on all media outlets and blogs.
t. Create a Pinterest board for your company about your “PEOPLE” and post the image and link back to that persons bio page on your website. (http://www.pinterest.com/thebrokerlist/cre-people/)
u. Create a Pinterest board for your company about your New Hires and link back to the blog you posted.
v. On all Linkedin Groups you belong to, push your blog to those groups that are appropriate to Commercial Real Estate.
w. Send an email blast via theBrokerList with a link back to your blog to your Local broker market so all colleagues know of the new hire.
x. From the new profile on theBrokerList be sure every new employee is tweeted, liked, google+ pinned and any other social media du jour, so no employee profile has -0- on their social media links.
y. Send out an all company announcement with a checklist similar to this showing them all of the places the announcement appeared so they can support the new employee and like, tweet and share, through their social media.
z. Be sure the social media links on ALL online profiles for your team members is in keeping with your company standards. For instance each employee must include links that connect back to the company’s website, twitter, facebook, Linkedin Company page etc. Most important is that any employees that lease or sell should have links to their listings on all profiles. For those employees with their own social media, insure those are added to that employees profile too!
Do a YouTube video for your YouTube channel with a standard interview for each employee, introducing them to the world. Again, repeat sharing and promoting that as well!
