Times are changing and the CCIM Institute continues to lead the way by expanding its technology.CCIM Institute. If you don’t know about the CCIM Institute, it is a great organization and I challenge you to check it out. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the DealShare webinar that was put on by the CCIM Institute. For those of you who are members of the CCIM Institute, you know that mailbridge has been replaced with two new platforms, DealShare and CCIM Connect. If you didn’t know, well you do now!
DealShare is the mailbridge platform for haves and wants, while CCIM Connect is for questions, general inquires and allows others to share their expertise. While a number of members have expressed concerns regarding this new technology, I say “so what”. So what that we, as an organization are updating to the technological times we live in. Technology is moving at a pace that no one can keep up with, whether you are young or old it’s going to change.
So while there was a barrage of twitter posts, telephone calls and direct messages between Linda Day Harrison with theBrokerList and myself, we decided to do what any educated professional would do and that is learn what this new system was all about and register for one of the training webinars. So if you are a member (Designee or Candidate) of the CCIM Institute this is your opportunity for a quick overview of the new DealShare system.
First and foremost, hats off to Richard Newman with the CCIM Institute. He gave a great webinar with a number of key points. He encouraged people to take a tour and go over the five main points of the DealShare system. He encouraged attendees to click for help, there are a number of ways to get assistance if you are having an issue. Personally, I was impressed with the ability to do a few different things. You can explore certain listings and learn more about a certain area. For example get current news articles, find out major employers and get some simple demographic information. I was impressed with how the system is laid out; personally I recommend the thumbnail view.
Richard went on to show attendees how to post a new listing on DealShare where you can geocode properties, insert links and even add video. Lastly, members can subscribe to certain parameters and can modify it at any time and have as many subscriptions as you want. Just do us all a favor, don’t post your property listing in CCIM Connect it’s the wrong place and probably won’t get the same response as if you post in DealShare.
I encourage all members to take a webinar. You can find the information on the homepage of the CCIM Institute or click here.
I wish each of you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving weekend.
James Milner, CCIM
