There is nothing more powerful in our industry than specializing. It gives you focus and clarity. It allows you to become an expert. It greatly improves your probability of becoming known and creating top-of-mind market dominating presence.
Specialization – in a product type or a geography – is what separates the top producers from those that languish in mediocrity.
It also helps you decide when to say no. I hear from my coaching clients often about how their productivity and income are soaring because they are referring business (saying no!) that doesn’t fit their specialty. They are generating fees by saying no. As a result, they spend more time focusing on what they do best – their specialty. Not a bad gig!
