DE RITO PARTNERS, INC. It all started in 1992, when one day shy of his 30th birthday, Marty De Rito established De Rito Partners, Inc./De Rito Partners Development, Inc. that concentrated on developing and brokering retail. “I started the company by using credit cards and promissory notes,” he explained, adding that the company teamed up with developer and construction manager, Opus West, for De Rito’s first project, the development of 210,000 square feet of retail that comprised the Mesa Fiesta power center across from Fiesta Mall in Mesa. Additionally, the partnership went on to develop another 2 million square feet.
Seven years after that, in 1999, De Rito Partners, Inc. teamed up with Kimco Developers. Together, they’ve developed the Casa Paloma shopping center in Chandler, 14 other retail projects and two auto malls, totaling 3.5 million square feet. De Rito and Kimco have jointly developed Mesa Riverview, a 250-acre mixed-use development anchored by Bass Pro Shops; Gilbert Fiesta, a Fry’s shopping center and the Chandler 202 Auto Park anchored by Toyota, Nissan & Honda, with space for up to a dozen auto dealers.
“Between Opus and Kimco,” De Rito said, “we have learned at the feet of the masters, having developed over 500 million square feet of retail space. They have helped us raise our game and have made us a better company.”
De Rito Partners, Inc. celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The company has grown to become the largest brokerage firm in Arizona specializing in retail.
